女のスポーツ競技は、いちいち可愛いとか可愛くないとか美醜を基準に語られていたけど、なでしこジャパンの報道にはそういった意味合いが入っていなくて、とても見やすかった。「女子の競技をこんな風に楽しめるんだ」という感覚も、日本に植え付けてくれたように感じた。今までの、ビーチバレーの浅尾美和の股間とか尻ばかり映して、ペアの女の子は（浅尾ほど可愛くないから）全く画面に映らなかったり、浅田真央は「セックスしないと演技に色気が出ない」とか言われたりしていたことが、本当におかしいことだったんだ、と改めて思えた。
